[SALLY] HYPHEN MAGAZINE

{Photographs by Andria Lo and Bonnie Tsang} {Photographs of magazines by Sally J Shim}
Several months ago I was interviewed by Gloria Kim for the Asian-American magazine Hyphen. I was nervous before the interview but Gloria made me feel at ease and my chattiness quickly set in. Growing up in a community where there were only a handful of Asian families I never dreamed of being featured in an Asian-American magazine. As we raise our boys Appah and I want them to have an appreciation and love of their Korean heritage. Moving to Korea next month is going to be wonderful opportunity for the boys learn more about the Korean culture and help them have a sense of pride in being 3rd generation Korean-Americans. You can see a sneak peek of the four-page feature here (I put together a fun craft tutorial in the issue).
P.S. A big thank you to Bonnie Tsang for the portrait! You can check out her new portfolio site here.
