[BEAUTY] MY SKINCARE ROUTINE

I've been meaning to write another makeup post since I've added + removed quite a few products to my daily routine. But I will save that for another day and just share my sweet + simple skincare routine. I have sensitive/normal/dry skin. Not sure this is an accurate description but I'm definitely on the normal/dry spectrum and there is a 50/50 chance a new product will make me break out in a rash so I'm throwing "sensitive" skin in the description. My mother takes really good care of her skin and she taught me to cleanse and moisturize my face from an early age. I have to admit I took better care of my skin in high school, college and graduate school, using department store brand products and putting on weekly facial masks. But over the years I started spending less time and money on my skincare routine which isn't a bad thing since I did find some of great affordable products after I had the boys. My mother turned me on to Cetaphil cleansers which are not irritating to my skin and keeps it feeling soft and moisturized. I use Cetaphil daily facial cleanser with water in the morning and evening. In the morning I follow the cleanser with a pat of Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Balm and Oil of Olay Complete SPF 30 moisturizer for sensitive skin. At night I use a cream instead of the moisturizer. My mother likes to gift me with facial creams so often I am using whatever is in my stash. But my favorite creme is La Mer creme. This creme is an investment but I have to say it really is the best creme I have ever used and a little goes a long way. So that's my short + sweet routine. What's your routine? Any favorite products you would like to share? Oh and did I tell you I had my first facial this year? It was great and now I plan to go back every five weeks for a little extra skin TLC.

Speaking of skincare, I recently contributed to a Real Beauty feature, "33 Best Mommy Blogger Beauty Tips." I'm pretty sure I'm not qualified to be giving beauty advice, but apparently that did not stop me. It was fun to see what the other mommy bloggers shared. I found some great new products and new-to-me bloggers! I am a no-makeup gal, and the first two products you picture/mention are the only two products I use (Cetaphil/Oil of Olay). Synchronicity!

thanks so much for sharing your beauty tips! i've never really been proactive about finding the right/fitting skincare products until someone makes recommendations or gifts me with something. my mother has started making me ever more mindful (translate: she's been lecturing me about my freckles) & she got me a duo of shiseido softener & night moisturizing cream. it feels nice on the skin but i'm not too sure of its effects aside from that. i'll report back in a year :)

I have very oily and sensitive skin. In fact, I didn't find a moisturizer that wouldn't cause a break out until my 30s. I use Proactive cleanser and repairing lotion. I like the Estee Lauder moisturizers, but right now I'm using Olay Youth Code and it's really nice. I recently found the Cover Girl/ Olay foundation makeup and I really like it. I think it's been making a big difference in the texture and look of my skin.

Fun post, Sally!

I'm starting to notice lines around my eyes and dry areas on my face, so I've been combating aging like a serious wrinkle ninja. I used to be a minimalist when it came to face skin care, but now I have the works. I started using Mario Badescu and have been building my treatment collection. I like the line because it hydrates and softens my dry skin without making it feel oily, and it's totally affordable. Oh, and Martha Stewart loves MB too, so it must be great.

funny ~ I use cetaphil & olay daily. the exact same products, except now that I live in the midwest I switched to the non-spf in the winter as there is no need for sun protection when it is -10F :*(. I too have sensitive skin and this has become the best combo for me right now (I am 40). my next quest is to figure out some better-for-me makeup. I love mac, but know there is better (from the h.s. gals in Marin ~ where I used to live).
