[FAMILY] WALKING AROUND TOWN

PHOTOGRAPHS BY SALLY J SHIM
One of the things I love about living in Busan is being able to walk to so many places. The beach is just a few steps outside of our home, the aquarium is less than a five minute walk down the boardwalk and there are dozens of restaurants and shops on our block. Coming from the suburbs of Portland this has been such a refreshing change for our family. Although Appah has to drive to work we do a lot less driving and a lot more walking. It definitely makes me think a bit more about whether we need to make that trip to the store, especially if the weather is chilly, but we're also able to slow down and enjoy the scenery around us. There are so many little details you miss when you drive a car. I found a cute cafe a few blocks from our house on a small side street while walking to the store with the boys as well as a photography museum while I was walking home from lunch with a friend. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to squeeze in a nice little walk around your neighborhood.
A few lovely links:
1. This year I won't be able to send out our yearly New Year cards since our shipment from the States has not arrived yet so I'm thinking about a Valentines/Moving card combo. I love Amanda Jane Jones' New Year card. So cute and clever!
2. There are a billion design blogs out there but I'm excited about Rena Tom's new design blog, Singular Possessive, because she has awesome taste and a keen eye for good design. And if you run a creative business or have hopes to do so in the future then I hope you're reading her Rena Tom blog because it is chalk full of wise advice.
3. I loved looking through some of the meals my friend Ashley Rodriguez of Not Without Salt prepared in 2011. Her Pork Meatball Banh Mi and her homemade Butter Finger Candy look amazing. I'm pretty sure we all wish we were her neighbor, I certainly do!

I've been thinking that I might want to go to Korea for a year to teach English. Your blog posts are making my decision seem like a no-brainer! Love it!
Great images! I've never been top South Korea but I guess this will help me decide to find time to visit the place. Thanks!
