[JAPAN] TOKYO BOUND

PHOTOGRAPHS BY SALLY J SHIM
It has been over three years since my first trip to Tokyo and I'm so thrilled to be heading back next week with the entire family. Last time Appah and I were able to enjoy the beautiful city sans boys but this time they're coming along and they couldn't be more happy. We'll be visiting an old friend who is currently living in Tokyo with her family and re-visiting some favorite spots. And although this trip will be geared towards the boys' interests it is bound to be filled with good food and beautiful sights. I can't wait to share photographs from our Tokyo adventure!

The best is to share the journey with the kids! material things come and go--hey, can you remember the toys received for your 7th Christmas? I can't! But, I do remember special places with my parents! Happy for you, but mostly for your lucky boys! Cheers!

I hope you have a fantastic trip Sally! You're making me experience some serious wanderlust...enjoy the experience and your time with your friend.
I wish I can go to Japan too. I heard that there are a lot of beautiful sites there. Plus the food is exotic and delicious. The photo with the crepes in it makes me jealous. A friend told me Japanese crepe tastes like heaven.
i can just imagine all the deliciously fresh sushi you are eating while there! looking forward to seeing more pics of your trip. that crepes display---just as pretty as the ice cream one!! ;)
That sounds like so much fun Sally! I spent 5 days in Tokyo when I was 21 and would love to return at some point with our family. Would also love to see Hokkaido. A bit of the city and a bit of the country. Looking forward to your photos!

Hi Sally, I sometimes stalk your blog to check out your cool pictures.
I'm sure you already have your itinerary mapped out already, but some places that your boys may be interested in include:
-- Gundam Front (http://gundamfront-tokyo.com/en/): It's a mini-theme park devoted to Gundam fans. Grand opening is in April 2012.
-- KiddyLand (http://www.kiddyland.co.jp/en/index.html): Huge toy store in Harajuku / Omotesando area
-- Daikanyama T-site (http://tsite.jp/daikanyama/) (http://www.cnngo.com/tokyo/shop/tokyos-stunning-palace-printed-word-334326): Awesome new little complex with the nice shops and cafes including one of the best bookstores I've ever seen.
Have an excellent trip.
