THE TWELVE DAYS OF HOLIDAY PACKAGES NO.3

Package No.3 from The Twelve Days of Holiday Packages is inspired by my love of beautiful ribbon. My favorite ribbon is from Studio Carta, a design studio run by Angela Liguori. If you love ribbon and packaging goods you you need to check out their online shop

Angela sent me some of her products and I immediately fell in love with Studio Carta's Tight Weave Cotton Ribbon. It has a beautiful texture and comes in a wide array of colors. For this packaging project I chose to use the Tight Weave Cotton Ribbon in Iron, which is the perfect charcoal grey.

Although any packaging with a simple ribbon tied around it is perfect in my book, for this project I wanted to personalize the ribbon with a message using a rolling alphabet stamp and a pigment ink pad. This method of stamping ribbon would also be ideal for personalizing party or wedding favors.

MATERIALS

1. Kraft box

2. Scissors

3. Studio Carta Tight Weave Cotton Ribbon in Iron

4. Alphabet Rolling Stamp

5. Colorbox Pigment Ink Pad in Frost White

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Place gift inside kraft box and close shut.

2. Cut a piece of ribbon (long enough to wrap around the box one time, plus 15 inches).

3. Wrap the ribbon around the box and tie in a bow, trim the ends to make them even in length.

4. Create your message on the alphabet rolling stamp.

5. Ink the stamp by pressing the ink pad onto the surface of the stamp to ensure an even layer of ink.

6. Place a piece of cardboard under the ends of the ribbon and carefully place the stamp on the ribbon. Press down with firm and even pressure. Repeat on other ribbon end. Let dry for 15 minutes.

Note: It is always a good idea to test out the stamp + ink pad on the ribbon so you know how firm you need to press on the stamp for a clear impression (as well as to know whether the ink will show up on certain colored ribbons).

TIPS

1. Try stamping a message along the entire length of the ribbon.

2. Use several different color ink pads to create a colorful message.

3. Substitute the alphabet rolling stamp with individual alphabet stamps.
