The school year is coming to an end next week and the boys and I will be embarking on a 5-week summer adventure in the States. We have not been back to the States for 1.5 years so we are excited to see all our family and friends (and eat some good burgers). We will be flying through four airports, taking a road-trip through California, and heading back to the Pacific Northwest. If you have any recommendations for good restaurants, bakeries, shops, and or fun spots for the boys in LA, SF/Bay Area, and/or PDX, please let me know! I will sharing our adventure here on the blog and daily over on Instagram and Pippit (@sallyjshim).

I've always been an admirer of your blog and creativity and haven't left many comments, but I do have some ideas for your visit.

In SF: Tartine Bakery in the Mission has the most delicious banana cream tart and ham and cheese croissants. Very authentically Parisian! They have paninis too, but I've never tried them.
And Ike's Love & Sandwiches has the most delicious sandwiches. The wait can be very long, so phone your order in and just pick up when you get there. There isn't really an eating area, so this would be a good place to pick things up for a picnic.
The Ferry Building at the Embarcadero is quite pretty inside and there tons of little shops and restaurants there that you can eat at, plus, right outside, there's a pretty great view of one of the bridges around SF.

I'm not sure where you guys will be in LA, but here are some ideas.
In Los Angeles: I love Persian food at Shamshiri grill in Westwood, CA, near Santa Monica.
Urth Caffe (there are a bunch of different locations), but there is one in Santa Monica, downtown LA and Pasadena. all of them have really good brunch and lunch food and desserts.
In Orange county, there is Cream Pan in Tustin which is has absolutely delicious strawberry croissants and DK Donuts in Orange where you can try Cro-Nuts (croissant donuts), if you haven't tried them before.
I love Thai Nakorn for Thai food (in Garden Grove), the bbq beef and chili sauce is delish.
Also, Brodard's in Westminster is known for their spring rolls.
Shin Sen Gumi is my favorite Japanese Ramen place. There are a few different locations, in Fountain Valley and in Alhambra, I think. They also have a green tea creme brulee that is delicious and that I've never seen anywhere else.

As for fun spots for the boys, SkyZone is an indoor trampoline park. There are a bunch of different places around LA. You can look them up on their website. It's really fun if you have a lot of people, you can play trampoline dodgeball.
Also, there is Speedzone in City of Industry, which lets you drive GoKarts. You can buy an all you can drive pass that lasts for an hour or two, and is probably the best deal.

Hope this helps! Have fun on your trip. :D
