[MAKE] VALENTINE'S DAY CUPCAKE TOPPER

PHOTOGRAPHS BY SALLY J SHIM

Although we usually limit Valentine's Day goodies to the boys' classmates and teachers, this year I wanted to also pass along some Valentine's Day love to friends. My oven only likes to broil (fixing it is on my to do list!) so I haven't baked anything in a long time, but fortunately we have a local cupcake shop that makes red velvet cupcakes. The cupcakes come adorned with a sweet little red heart and I thought adding a simple cupcake topper would be cute. The great thing about these toppers is you can add them to any baked good or even use them to decorate a Valentine's Day gift as a gift topper like I did here. You can also use the toppers as stickers to wrap around a glassine envelope. The possibilities are endless!

[MAKE] JE T'AIME VALENTINES

PHOTOGRAPHS BY SALLY J SHIM

I thought it would be fun to design some valentines for us big kids that want to spread some love to our friends and family. The two different designs come in black and red colorways. I love the black on pink neon/kraft paper.

[MAKE] YOU ROCK! VALENTINE

PHOTOGRAPHS BY SALLY J SHIM

For J's valentines he found some chocolate rock candy and wanted to give some to his friends. We thought the phrase YOU ROCK! would work well with the valentine design. This design is far from the traditional red and white valentines out there, but it definitely appeals to my 9.5 year old boy.

[MAKE] TIC TAC TOE VALENTINES

PHOTOGRAPHS BY SALLY J SHIM

This year I got a head start on the boys' Valentine's Day cards. (Thanks to my bum knee and doctor's orders to take it easy.) For j's classmates we decided to recreate one of our favorite valentines, the Tic Tac Toe Valentine. Over the years I've received many requests to make this valentine available as a printable and last week I finally got around to redesigning it.

ELEVATOR SNAPSHOTS 03

PHOTOGRAPHS BY SALLY J SHIM VIA INSTAGRAM

I think Elevator Snapshots 03 should be called the Winter Edition (ES 01 was the Summer Edition and ES 02 the Fall Edition) because this about sums up what I've been wearing all winter long-- wool jackets, chunky sweaters, skinny jeans, suede booties and SCARFSHOP scarves. I was having a hard time figuring out to what to wear on my morning runs (the Uniqlo puffy jacket was a bad choice since I was burning up 10 minutes in to my run), although with my bum knee my morning runs will be on the back burner for the next three months. We've had some really chilly days this winter and I don't think I could have survived them without my Uniqlo HeatTech long underwear. Our entire family wears them and it makes a huge difference helping us stay warm. What are your favorite things to wear during the winter months?
