HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

I am not a fan of hot weather, but I do love summer nights. Nothing beats walking along the beach, watching the sunset, and enjoying the cool breeze. Hope you have a wonderful summer weekend!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Highlights from this week:

1. Finally resuming my morning runs after being side-lined by a knee injury for several months. Love the fresh morning air.

2. Meeting another work deadline.

3. Enjoying handmade rice cakes from the outdoor market.

4. Visiting an amazing baking shop with my friend. Found so many packaging goodies!

5. Having some inspiring conversations about education with people who want to make a difference.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

[BUSAN] MORNING RUN

PHOTOGRAPHS BY SALLY J SHIM

One of my favorite things about living in Busan is the amazing view we have from our home on Haeundae Beach. There is something so soothing about hearing the waves crash all day long. The beautiful scenery has also helped motivate me to focus on myself, physically and mentally. As I go on my morning run along Haeundae Beach and Dongbaek Island I am able to clear my head and get myself ready to start the day. I am also motivated by the people in this area who are serious about staying fit and healthy. On any given day you will see a constant flow of people cycling, running, walking and hiking. And although I feel less "productive" in many ways since moving to Busan I am happy to be making my goal of taking care of myself a priority.

[BUSAN] AN OLD TRADITION, A NEW YEAR

It is a Korean tradition to watch the sunrise on the first day of the new year. Haeundae Beach, the beach we live on, is one of the most popular beaches in South Korea so thousands of people flock here every January 1. It was a very chilly and overcast morning so we enjoyed watching the sunrise from the comfort of our home. Although normally the sun rises around 7:25am this particular morning the sun didn't make its appearance until after 8:00am. It was amazing to see so many people gather at the beach to welcome the first sunrise of 2012. I'm so happy our family was able to participate in this wonderful tradition.
