There are four more days left of summer vacation. So of course it felt right to take the boys to the beach for the day. It was a last minute trip so I thought we could pick up some beach buckets and shovels at the store but they were sold out so we improvised with Halloween buckets and plastic ladles. Before we hit the beach we fueled ourselves with clam chowder and fish & chips from Mo's and grabbed cookies and pot de crème from Waves of Grain Bakery. We spent the day digging in the sand, had contests on who could stack the most rocks and laughed and told silly jokes. As the boys get older these last days of summer are getting more and more bittersweet.

Terrain has a beautiful selection of home goods but of course I'm drawn to the food! They carry many yummy treats with amazing packaging [because we all know packaging is very important in my book!]. I love the simple container of sugar candies, the lovely label on the Elderflower Presse, the Tru Bee honey branding, the McClure's pickle jar and the handwritten-like kraft label on the Pink Himalayan salt. Good Food + Good Packaging = My Weakness!

Chocolate Covered Sunflower Seeds + Clear Bag + Sticker Paper = Treat for a Sweet Friend

Broder is a local Swedish restaurant and one of our favorite breakfast + brunch spots in SE Portland. The food is amazing and although sometimes there is a bit of a wait it is competely worth it. The photographs above are from two separate visits to Broder. Some of our favorites include the baked eggs, baked scrambles, aebleskiver (Danish pancakes) with housemade lemon curd and lingonberry jam, apple fritters and potato pancakes. A bit of sweet and savory is the perfect combination in my book!

Bonpoint never fails to deliver a classic and beautiful collection each season. The Fall/Winter 2011 collection is no exception. I love all the neutrals and layers for boys, girls and babies. I can see my boys wearing any of the outfits above and I can envision myself, oh I mean my nieces, wearing the pretty grey wool jackets or black polka dot blazer. The metallic totes are my favorite. And I also love the gender neutral outfits for babies which are simple and sweet.

We only have two more weekends left of the summer before school starts. And although I'll be sad to send the boys back to school we're trying to squeeze in as much fun family time as we can. Before I sign off I thought I would share a few things that made me smile this week.

+ Thank you for all the SHIMTOKK love. Joke and I are super excited to bring some packaging love in to the blog world!

+ Martha of Uniform Natural is one of my favorite creatives out there and I loved reading about her creative process (especially the part about looking for "happy accidents").

+ I also loved reading about how Sugar Paper got their start in the stationery world. Seeing how Chelsea made her dream into a reality is incredibly inspiring. [I met her last month in LA and she is the sweetest lady ever.]

+ I fell in love with the photography blog London vs. Paris. I adore how Irene and Xanthe have captured their worlds in London and Paris. Makes me want to visit both cities!

+ If you love food and beautiful photography then you'll like Spoon Fork Bacon, a new food blog by Teri Lyn Fisher and Jenny Park. I've already bookmarked the recipes for bacon, gruyere and green onion scones and cherry hand pies.

Have a wonderful weekend!!
